American Rumble Half Term Wrestling Spectacular

Weds 15th Feb 7.30pm
Tickets: £10, £12 on the door

THE UK PITBULLS, arguably the most sensational tag team in wrestling, are set to invade Potters Bar.

The Pitbulls, who threaten the scales at a combined weight of 58st., consist of Mike Walters, aka The Bulk, reputedly Europe’s heaviest wrestler, and his partner, Big Joe, and they will top the bill on a big half-term grappling spectacular at the Wyllyotts Theatre on February 15 that will also feature an over the top rope, last man standing American Rumble.

The current line-up of The Pitbulls are a reincarnation of the original team of brothers Mike and Dave Waters, who retired as the undefeated Premier Wrestling Federation champions and remain the most successful tag team in PWF history.

Barring a couple of disqualifications and a no-contest decision they were beaten only twice in 28 bouts in Premier Promotions rings between 2003 and 2008. But it all came to a shuddering halt when Dave Waters suffered a crippling knee injury while taking part in a strongman competition, and Mike hung up his wrestling boots.

But now The Bulk is back, with Big Joe as his partner, on a mission to destroy every tag team in the country and recapture the tag-team title.

The show, the first big-time wrestling action in the Wyllyotts arena for three years, will also include appearances by reigning PWF title-holder Dazzling Darrell Allen, the high-flying "Wonder Kid" Jonny Storm, one of the most exciting talents in British rings, and leading heavyweight contender and idol of ringsiders, the London Adonis Josh Faulkner.

Henning Wehn: Westphalia is not an Option

Thurs 16th Feb  8pm

Join German Comedy Ambassador Henning Wehn for an evening of Teutonic jolliness at its best. After his last show tackled those well-known staples of light entertainment that are the British obsession with home ownership and the self-serving nature of most fundraising efforts, this time Henning’s having an unbiased look at immigration. He also wonders, if, generally speaking, people are competent. Luckily in his case this doesn’t matter as either he’s funny or he lives up to a national stereotype. It’s a win-win situation. Come along. Or else.

“Forget about the Euro, Henning hits the Mark” Nottingham Post

In this lecture David Starkey draws on his unique knowledge of Henry’s reign on the one hand, and his insights as a leading commentator on modern politics on the other, to illuminate both the Tudor age and our own.
